Whau Ethnic Collective is a community organization dedicated to promoting multiculturalism, fostering diversity, and enhancing social cohesion with a strong voice for the ethnic communities within the Whau region of Auckland, New Zealand. Members of the Whau Ethnic Collective are community leaders from various Ethnic communities in the Whau. Get to know the Whau - 2 Aug 2025
Whau Ethnic Collective participated in the “Get to Know the Whau” an event organized by the New Lynn Community Centre and the Whau Local Board.
It was fantastic initiated to bring together all community and service providers in the Whau region to one location to showcase to new residents a one-stop-shop for all community services.
It was also a great opportunity for networking and collaboration of all community organisations and residents. This strengthened engagement with our ethnic communities to foster a sense of belonging.

Whau Ethnic Collective applied for Podcast kit and training from Crescendo Trust, who engage with Rangatahi (youth) to create and build positive pathways through music production and wellbeing programmes. The intention is to create a WEC podcasts in different languages on emergency preparedness interviewing experts from Auckland Emergency Management (AEM) where we connect communities, share stories, and learn together. Each episode, we bring voices from across our diverse communities, along with expert advice and practical information on disaster preparedness, health, culture, and civic engagement. we’re building resilience, celebrating culture, and strengthening connections in the Whau.
Whau Chinese New Year Festival on 23 Feb 2025.
Whau Ethnic Collective collaborated with SportHub (Synergy) Community Trust to support the Whau Chinese New Year 2025 Festival and to celebrate the Lunar New Year. This event was a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity and festivities, aiming to showcase the unique charm of Chinese traditional culture while reflecting the inclusivity and diversity of our community.
The event provided an opportunity for the Chinese community in the Whau to engage with other ethnic people and come together and enjoy a day filled with music, dragon dancing, traditional food, kids activities, and marking the significance of the Lunar New Year.
We are proud to support such meaningful events that strengthen bonds within our diverse community to bring about inclusivity and promote robust ethnic presence through participation.
